 PHILADELPHIA BLACK PUBLIC ISSUES FORUM

Mission

        The mission of The Philadelphia Black Public Issues Forum is to provide a public space and an opportunity to be heard to Black persons and groups who bring non-traditional approaches to ways of thinking and organizing to solve pressing community problems.

Goals

1.      To promote Black Public Discourse on issues central to the progressive development of the Black community;

2.      To preserve the passing on of lessons learned and wisdom gained from Black activists of the 60s and 70s to today’s young people;

3.      To provide public space and an opportunity to be heard to Black dissident voices that advocate nontraditional approaches, ways of thinking, and organizing to solve pressing community problems.

Objectives

1.      To present an ongoing series of free public forums which address intractable issues in the Black community and allow for spirited interchange and open discussion with community residents;

2.      To project an atmosphere of tolerance and understanding and an environment that fosters the community’s reflective discussion and critical analysis of divergent points of view; and,

3.      To protect Black Free Speech from the chilling effects of an increasingly hostile government apparatus that equates dissent with anti-Americanism at best and pro-terrorism at worst.

Invitation to participate is extended to all organizations, concerned citizens, families and individuals.
This will be an open forum that will allow all participants to voice their concern and to be heard.

Please pass the word to everyone; we need your involvement and energy!
