HBLR Extends in North Hudson
Newark Light Rail Opens New
Route
With the opening of two additional stations in Union City and North Bergen, the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail line has placed most of Hudson County within easy reach of its regular riders.
On February 25, 2006 full service began to Bergenline and Tonnelle Avenues providing additional access to and from northern county communities.
NEWARK LIGHT RAIL OPENS NEW ROUTE
The new line connects Newark’s two train stations through the business district.
Service began on July
17, 2006 between Penn and Broad Street Stations with direct connection to the City Subway, several New Jersey Transit rail
lines and bus routes, Amtrak and Greyhound.

As regular HBLR riders know, the HBLR monthly pass also serves as a Bus Card enabling travel for 1 zone, at no additional charge, on most bus routes, the Newark Light Rail and City Subway and the River Line light rail that connects Trenton and Camden. In addition weekly and most monthly rail passes are now honored on light rail and bus lines.
