It is especially common in African American children. Asthma is aggravated by airborne allergens. These are small particles that are common in the house that irritate the respiratory system. They include dust, mold, pollen, animal dander, tobacco smoke, and other airborne irritants. Dust Mites Studies have shown that exposure to dust mites may cause a child to develop asthma. Every house has them and it is impossible to get rid of them completely. Although, there are some things you can do to minimize exposure to them: • Be sure there is good ventilation. dry cloth only stirs up the dust. Mold Mold is a problem in most homes. Like dust, it is unavoidable. There are steps you can take to reduce the mold in your house. Keep the humidity in the house down and check for mold in hard-to-find places. Mold likes to grow under carpets, behind furniture, in crawlspaces, and on bathroom tiles. Tobacco Smoke Exposure to smoke in childhood may be one of the causes of asthma. The best thing you can do is to stop smoking. If you don’t quit, try to smoke outside and/or when away from the house. Pets Many people are allergic to the hair and saliva of cats and dogs. If you are very allergic to pets, the best idea is to not get one or if possible restrict the animal’s access to the house. Groom your pet regularly. After petting any dog or cat, be sure to wash your hands each and every time. Be aware of your asthma – You can’t treat it if you don’t know you have it. Millions of people that may suffer form asthma go undiagnosed or are diagnosed too late. release pandemic viruses into the population in order to get a jump ahead of the real
pandemic, so as to fast track the vaccine for when it is needed. In Europe, some manufacturers have conducted advance studies using a so-called
"mock-up" vaccine. Mock-up vaccines contain an active ingredient for an influenza virus
that has not circulated recently in human populations and thus mimics the novelty of a
pandemic virus. According to the website, “Such advance studies can greatly expediteegulatory
approval.”
Dr. Mercola's Comments: On June 11 the World Health Organization (WHO) raised its swine flu pandemic alert
from a 5 to a 6. Phase 6 is the highest level alert, and reflects the speed with which a
virus is spreading -- not its severity. This classification also allows for a vaccine to qualify for a “fast-track” procedure for
licensing and approval, and this process is now ongoing for the swine flu vaccine. What you may not know, however, is that WHO, together with health officials, regulatory
authorities and vaccine manufacturers, have been working since 2007 – long before this
new “threat” of swine flu emerged – to “explore a broad range of issues surrounding
the regulatory approval of pandemic vaccines.” According to the WHO website: “Ways were sought to shorten the time between the emergence of a pandemic virus and
the availability of safe and effective vaccines.” One such method used in Europe is to conduct advance studies using a “mock-up”
vaccine that contains an active ingredient for an influenza virus that has not circulated
recently in human populations. When testing these mock-up vaccines, it is very possible to release the novel influenza
virus into the population, as its purpose is to “mimic the novelty of a pandemic virus”
and “greatly expedite regulatory approval.” Government officials have other tricks up their sleeves to ensure these new, barely
tested vaccines easily make it to market as well, such as: Labeling the vaccine a “strain change” rather than an entirely “new” vaccine. This
method states the new vaccine has built on technology used to produce vaccines for
seasonal influenza, and the change for the pandemic vaccine is similar to a strain
change used to produce a new seasonal vaccine each flu season. In the United States, vaccine manufacturers are required to submit fewer data if they
already have a licensed flu vaccine and will use the same manufacturing process for the
pandemic vaccine. Using a “rolling review procedure.” This allows manufacturers to submit sets of data for
regulatory review “as they become available.” In other words, they’re free to distribute
the vaccine and then submit the safety data later on. Would You Want a Fast-Tracked Vaccine Injected Into Your Body? By very definition, fast-tracked vaccines are those that have received very little safety
testing prior to being used. So any time you agree to get one, you are essentially a
guinea pig. Vaccine manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline has actually stated: "Clinical trials will be limited, due to the need to provide the vaccine to governments as
quickly as possible. Additional studies will therefore be required and conducted after
the vaccine is made available." And WHO likewise says: “Time constraints mean that clinical data at the time when pandemic vaccines are first
administered will inevitably be limited. Further testing of safety and effectiveness will
need to take place after administration of the vaccine has begun.” Why would anyone who knows the facts sign up for a vaccine that really needs further
safety studies … but won’t receive them until AFTER it’s already been given out? By
then it will be too late. So please realize that if you or your child receive a swine flu vaccine, you will be acting
as a TEST subject. Remember this vaccine will not be made using the methods of the past. In order to
speed up the cultivation of the virus and the manufacturing process, they’re using
human liver cells instead of chicken eggs. Whether this new procedure is better or
worse than the old method, I can’t say … but it’s never been used before and they have
not had time to conduct any human testing. So, it’s a giant game of Russian Roulette that you simply want to avoid. Nearly all of the vaccines created will also include thimerosal (mercury), and the toxic
adjuvant squalene, both of which have been clearly shown to carry significant health
risks. You should know, too, that vaccine makers and federal officials have been rendered
immune from lawsuits. Should anything go wrong with this current vaccine they will not
have to pay a single cent to
anyone! http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/09/sites/articles/archive/2009/08/20/Legal-Immunity-Set-for-Swine-Flu-Vaccine-Makers.aspx Who Stands to Benefit From the Swine Flu Pandemic (and Future Pandemics)? This is the question you need to ask yourself when you hear the media dishing out the
latest statistics about the swine flu pandemic. In the last few days alone, I’ve seen major news outlets warning that come flu season,
the swine flu could kill 90,000 Americans and hospitalize 2 million. This sounds a lot like
the fear-mongering that went on during the Bird Flu pandemic (that never materialized)
back in
2005. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/09/sites/articles/archive/2008/2/14/i-was-right-about-the-bird-flu-hoax.aspx Back then scientists and governments were congratulating themselves for averting a
threat that never was by stockpiling worthless vaccines. Now I’m having déjà vu. In response to this newest swine flu pandemic, what did the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention recently suggest? Swine flu shots for all! Of course, what else would you expect? As the Washington Post reported, CDC said: “As soon as a vaccine is available, try to
get it for everyone in your family.” Well, you might be tempted to do just that if you believe the sensational number of
swine flu deaths they’re predicting. But, really, these numbers are not based on facts. WHO continues to define the severity of the H1N1 virus to be moderate, generally
defined as an illness requiring neither hospitalization nor even medical care. Most cases
are having MILD symptoms that clear up on their own. Further, no one really knows for sure just how many cases of swine flu there are,
because some countries are no longer confirming them by lab. In the UK, for example, they now appear to be collecting swine flu data online and via
the phone, based on nothing but self-assessment. So did they really contract the swine flu? Or did the vast majority of them simply have a case of the sniffles or a seasonal flu bug?
Without laboratory confirmation, no one will ever know, but they sure are using those
numbers to scare you! Going back to my original question though, you must ask yourself who stands to
benefit from all of this paranoia and hysteria. Of course you know the answer to this one. Big Pharma … which stands to gain up to $49 billion a year on the swine flu
vaccine alone plus an infinite amount on top of that for future pandemic vaccines. The vaccine manufacturers would love for every man, woman, and child to heed the
CDC’s advice to get vaccinated. But now you know better. The swine flu is typically a mild illness. The swine flu vaccine has not been tested for safety or efficacy, but we DO know it will
contain harmful additives. The choice, to me, is obvious. And in the future, anytime a new “pandemic” appears and
officials urge you to rush out and get a shot, please remember this article and ask
yourself if it’s really you who stands to benefit from their advice. Interestingly the swine flu vaccines are going to be available in the US around the time
the finest vaccine conference in the world will be held. If you want to learn the absolute
latest and best strategies for swine flu then Washington DC is the place to be October
2-4. I will be sharing my strategies live at the event. So join me at the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) Web site, and join us in taking action against the potential threat of mandatory swine flu vaccinations. ----- Coalition members! Chesterton Ed Schwartz, Institute for the Study of Civic Values, 1218 Chestnut St., Rm. 702, Philadelphia, Pa. 19107 215-238-1434 edcivic@libertynet.org ARTS FOR AWARENESS The Evolution of Graffiti Just what do you make of images or lettering painted in any manner on property? That is the official description of an
age-old phenomenon now known as graffiti. The term “Graffiti” has either a negative or positive charge depending on what side of the spray can your finger is pointing.
Technically, it’s been around since pre-historic times as a marker of man’s existence found inside cave walls, for who could
say if the property they wrote on was real estate purchased or stolen for a moment of expression? Only humans have been guilty of scribbling on the walls, and (depending on the century and area around the world)
regarded as either criminal or artist. In the 16th century, wall art was considered a must have as artists such as
Michelangelo and daVinci were rivals in the country of Italy. Frescos and murals were in high demand. Now, in the 21st
century it is regarded as vandalism when property is painted on without the property owner’s consent. But let’s try to look
beyond the criminal aspect of graffiti to the expression as an art form. This form of art began in the late 1960’s when youngsters used permanent markers to tag, or write their names on subway
cars. Usually the name was followed by the street number on which they lived. The most popular name then came from a
young Greek American boy named Demetrius who posted “Taki 183” just about everywhere in NY. This form of graffiti
was known as “Tagging” and the intent was to gain fame by appearing on subways and walls throughout the city. Many
New Yorkers would claim that modern graffiti art originated in New York City, but tagging was not originally a NY
phenomenon. It began in Philadelphia, PA. where names such as “Monikers”, “Cornbread” and “Top Cat” gained their
claim to fame. Later, to be seen by a larger audience, markers were discarded and replaced by spray paint and as a result buildings, cars,
and anything that remained stationery were targeted. By the late 1970’s subway art had moved to subway exteriors then
freight trains where the need to be recognized as king or queen of graffiti meant creating an opportunity for an artist’s name
to travel...even across the country to places they’ve never been. This artistic freedom allowed a vicarious expression that
addressed the urban youth’s need to move beyond the boundaries of a financial condition, one that was so great it risked
being jailed for the offense. By then taggers were being separated from a new form of artists that were now calling themselves “graffitists”. As a result
of this art traveling across the country and eventually the world in planes and ships, graffiti became a hit in the Eastern
hemisphere. In addition, the hip-hop generation embraced the freedom and artistic expression of graffiti, identifying
themselves with the message of largess and bold creativity in the face of danger. The spray-can became a weapon as well as a plea to form an up and coming new culture that was enraged by the
standards and conventions of the generation that preceded it. So it is not surprising that this phenomenon is no longer limited
to the urban poor. Now, half of the graffiti art comes from Caucasian middle-class families and the European population.
The financial range now is as varied as ultra poor to uber-rich, as is the age range. A graffitist can be as young as 12 and as
old as 75! In addition, both genders are welcomed as the only thing that promotes you is your artistic ability. What I find fascinating about graffiti is its ability to combine and necessitate the art of writing with the visual art form.
Unlike traditional art, particularly contemporary or abstract, graffiti forces you to read it. It always has a literal message,
and carries with it a universal message as well. One particular message is the artists’ deliberate resistance to become “established” and recognized by some gallery snob
or curator, though much planning and sketching is incorporated in modern graffiti, particularly with mural sized artwork. All
graffitists agree to the fact that though their work may be unsolicited, it does not disqualify it as art. They also accept the risk
that though their art may take dozens of cans and hours of work, it can be gone within a matter of minutes because of its
vandalism categorization, for graffiti falls under the unwritten law of “temporary art” even though considered by many as
modern-day masterpieces. In many ways it puts them in the same category as sand and ice sculptors who make art for art’s
sake. Government insists that graffitists have no right to complain about their work being
removed because the work was forced upon the public. A graffitist’s counter argument
is that billboards, ads and campaign signs are also forced on the public in a similar
manner, so much so that we are subliminally motivated (AKA brain-washed) to
purchase the product. What do you think! Source: Unknown ----- Coalition members! Ronald Myers, Sr., M.D., Lobbies Congress for Holiday (Chicago, Illinois) - Chicago native, Rev. Ronald V. Myers, Sr., M.D., leader of the Campaign to Establish Juneteenth as a National Holiday Observance will return home to host the National Juneteenth Board Meeting & Conference, October 16-18, 2009, at the "All New" Hilton Oak Lawn Hotel, October 16-18, 2009. Dr. Myers is hopeful that congress will enact legislation to commemorate Juneteenth National Freedom Day, officially marking the "19th of June" on all calendars as America's 2nd Independence Day. Juneteenth leaders are confident that Senator Roland Burris (D-IL), the only African American member of the U.S. Senate, will lead legislative efforts to make 2010 a special year in acknowledgement of American history. Juneteenth, or the "19th of June", recognizes June 19, 1865, in Galveston, TX, when Union General Gordon Granger announced freedom for all slaves in the Southwest. This was the last major vestige of slavery in the United States following the end of the Civil War. This occurred more than two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued by President Abraham Lincoln. Upon the reading of General Order #3 by General Granger, the former slaves celebrated jubilantly, establishing America's second Independence Day Celebration and the oldest African American holiday observance.. Juneteenth is now recognized as a state holiday or state holiday observance in 32 states, including Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Delaware, Idaho, Alaska, Iowa, California, Wyoming, Missouri, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, Colorado, Arkansas, Oregon, Kentucky, Michigan, New Mexico, Virginia, Washington, Tennessee, Massachusetts, North Carolina, West Virginia, South Carolina, Vermont, Nebraska, Kansas and Wisconsin. In 2003, the District of Columbia passed legislation to recognize Juneteenth as a district holiday observance. Many more states, including Utah, Alabama, South Dakota, Pennsylvania, Montana, and Maryland have recognized Juneteenth through state legislative resolutions and Gubernatorial Proclamations. "We are very much appreciative of the tremendous support Congressman Danny Davis has given Juneteenth," states Dr. Myers, Founder and Chairman of the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation (NJOF) and the National Juneteenth Christian Leadership Council (NJCLC). "As Chairman of the National Juneteenth Congressional Committee, Congressman Davis has been heart and soul of Juneteenth in congress for many years." "Juneteenth is a freedom celebration significant for all Americans and the forerunner to the 13th Amendment, " states John Thompson, Founder & CEO of Juneteenth America, Inc. host of the annual National Juneteenth Convention and Expo, in Ontario, California. "Juneteenth brings all Americans together to celebrate the end of slavery and freedom," continues Thompson. "Juneteenth is America's 2nd Independence Day."
