Hereeeeeeeeeeeeees... Kathy’s Korner!
Three men were sitting together bragging about how they had given their new wives duties.
The first man had married an Asian woman, and bragged that he had told his wife she was going to do all the dishes and house cleaning. He said it took a couple of days but on the 3rd day he came home to a clean house and the dishes were done.
The next man had married a Caucasian woman. He bragged that he had given his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes and the cooking. On the 1st day he didn't see any results, but the next day it was better. By the 3rd day, his house was clean, the dishes were done and he had a huge dinner on the table.
The last man was married to a Sistah. He boasted that he had told her that her duties were to keep the house clean, dishes washed, lawn mowed, laundry washed, and hot meals on the table for every meal. He said the 1st day he didn't' see anything, the 2nd day he didn't see anything but by the 3rd day most of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out of his left eye; enough to fix himself a bite to eat, load the dishwasher and call a landscaper.

Greetings Coalition Family!
Dr. Edward Robinson, attorney, historian, author of “Journey of the Songhai People” has made transition at age 94 on Wednesday, June 14 at approximately 10:15pm in his home town of Philadelphia. Family members and friends were in the hospice and at his bedside including his wife, Harriette. An attorney, historian, author and professor, at the time of his death Dr. Robinson was working actively to produce a new movie titled “Whispers of the Medallion.” In 2004, he was awarded a contract with the Philadelphia Public School District to infuse African studies within the current social studies, science, and mathematics curricula from kindergarten to 8th grade for the 180,000 pupils’ school district and succeeded in making the teaching of African history mandatory for all students. Dr. Robinson produced the best-selling historical album, Black Rhapsody, and co-authored The Journey of the Songhai People, considered by universities as a foundational history book; produced a video, an animated children’s story, The Songhai Princess, which became the winner of four national prizes; and co-authored with his wife, Harriette, the book, ‘Twas the Night Before Kwanzaa. In addition, Dr. Robinson authored the curriculum utilized by the thousands of members of the D’Zert Club. All of Dr. Robinson’s efforts have been directed toward one goal: To effect a positive change of attitude toward the ancestral value of people of African descent by the total world society through dramatically exposing the beauty, grandeur and sophistication of ancient Egypt and the Songhai Empire. “Dr. Edward W. Robinson Jr. avenged our ancestors for the benefit of their descendants. That’s why we must become more conscious and engage in more activism. Let’s start by buying and reading each of his books and buying and listening to his ‘Black Rhapsody” CD “” said Ceil Keller, a member of Avenging The Ancestors Coalition (ATAC). Funeral arrangements are being made – details will be published as they are made available. – Norm Bond

SpotLight On Our Efforts
On June 1, 2012, the originator/Founder of the historic Million Woman March, Sis. Empress Phile' Chionesu, returned from a fact finding, exploratory, and Movement building expedition that successfully resulted in an exciting and powerful collaboration with the Republic of Benin, West Africa.
This historic visit, which officiated the launching of several major and long awaited "next step" operations of the Universal MW Movement, specifically the MWM "Africa Ancestral, Freedom, & Self-Determination Journey" 2012 Project, also served as the first of several "Repentance, Solidarity, and Reconciliation " dialogs and initiatives that has been uniquely designed to begin an incredible process to pro-actively connect, during 2012-2013, Africans born in North America with African countries located in the Western Region; thus furthering and stabilizing meaningful relationships and productivity for all concerned.
(NOTE: 2013-14 will begin designated initiatives for the Eastern African Region)
The National MWM is extremely proud of the ongoing work and accomplishments that it has been able to render, ascertain, and bring forward in the states during the past 15 years. And now armed with a well designed international program that is directly linked to countries throughout the African Diaspora a greater view and manifestation of the true MWM vision and holistic strategy can be administered and witnessed.
Never before has there been a extensively serious and diverse major project structured and presented, internationally, that specifically addresses the issues, concerns, and interest of women and girls of African descent worldwide. The Million Woman March being the largest gathering in the world of women anywhere ever was not only designed (and demonstrated its capabilities) to do things such as this, but much much more. In 1997, MWM set the tone with its "out of the box" unconventional and groundbreaking "NU Grassroots Tactical and Organizing Systems" (TM)
This year's visits to Benin, (and the upcoming trips to Ghana, Togo, and possibly Nigeria), will not only further establish the present and protracted mission and platform that was envisioned at the time of MWM's original conception and, of course, the new revelations and subsequent developments that have occurred during the past 15 years, but the upcoming visits will, assure, undoubtedly, a dramatic shift in the present stagnating and destructive paradigms hindering real global African advancement, sustainability, and Unity.
With the Republic of Benin's hosting of the National MWM US delegation that included, of course, MWM Founder and President General Empress Chi, along with MWM Special Projects Coordinator for Arts and Culture Development, Sis. Wanda Dickerson (Co-Founder of the Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble), and Roger and Rudy Frances, (of the IGI Circus International Entertainment and Promotions) members of the MWM Special Projects International Logistics Team, a genuine "evolutionary relationship" has been set in motion and as such will provide a variety of "from the grassroots through the glass ceiling" incentives and opportunities while demonstrating the creativity, beauty and greatness of the Mother of Civilization. (Africa)
Press Conferences to provide a more in depth report on the visit to Benin/Dahomey, other upcoming MWM programs and Special Projects, and to assist in the establishment of National MWM Coordinating Teams and MWM Chapters will be held in Philly, PA and Camden, New Jersey on June 19, 2012 . Additional briefings and "Information Sessions" will be held in Trenton, Burlington, and Newark, New Jersey in addition to DC, NY, and DE during the month on June and July 2012
For more information contact the National MWM Headquarters at: nationalmwm@aol.com, officialmwm@yahoo.com, or call: 267-636-3802

The
mission of the Parada
San Juan Bautista, Inc.
is to create solidarity and harmony within the entire community.
This is experienced at the grassroots level within the religious
and educational community, the business and government sector at
the city, county and state levels. Its success in bringing
together people from different cultures and background has
integrated our activities and events into the social fiber of the
city and surrounding communities.
The Parada
San Juan Bautista, Inc. is incorporated as a 501©3 tax
exempted,
non profit charitable corporation with approximately 30 members. The dedication and the continued success of the Parada San Juan Bautista, Inc. are made
possible due to its leadership, the diligent work of its volunteers and members
as well as the
generous financial support of private and public funding as well
as state and local contributors.
In 1957, a group of
parishioners from Our Lady of Mount Carmel/Fatima Church marched
under the leadership of its founder, Father Leonardo Carrieri.
These parishioners gave witness to their and Puerto Rican
heritage, culture and traditions, thus forming the Parada San Juan
Bautista, Inc. also known as St. John the Baptist Parade, Inc. It
epitomized the aspirations of a community in search of recognition
and equal opportunities. One of the main objectives of the
first parade was to present a positive image of the Puerto Rican
community.
Through the years the organization has
built strong partnerships with respectable organizations such as
the Latin American Economic Development Association, Camden County
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Family Center of Southern
New Jersey, Camden Children’s Garden, Atrium Dance Studio
and
Mega 1310AM.
Over the years, the organization has evolved from a single event
to a celebration that spans from the month of May until the end of
June. Our Calendar of Events consists of a Business &
Professional Reception for local and county businesses and
government officials, Coronation Pageant gives highlight to our
beautiful and intelligent young Latina women in Camden County,
Commemorative Mass & Luncheon gives tribute to our humble
beginnings and our founders, Flag Raising Ceremony educates the
public of our Puerto Rican history and the reason for our flag,
Distinguished Citizens Luncheon gives honor to those seniors that
have dedicated their lives to making Camden County a better place,
Annual Gala Banquet & Dinner Dance provides an opportunity to
spotlight our financial supporters and Achievement Honorees; the
Festival de Aibonito Celebration is a tribute to one of the most
beautiful and rich towns of Puerto Rico. It also consists of
an Annual Parade which is a joyful celebration of Latino culture,
folklore, art, history and customs.
We end our
month long celebration with the largest outdoor summer concert
which spotlights the many talents of our Latino culture. These two
events are celebrated on the last Sunday in June, at the Camden
Waterfront, to coincide with the feast of San Juan Bautista, the
patron Saint of Puerto Rico.
When Christopher
Columbus arrived at Puerto Rico during his second voyage on
November 19, 1493, a group of Arawak Indians known as Tainos
inhabited the island. The Taínos called the island
"Borikén" or "Borinquén".
Columbus named the island San Juan Bautista, in honor of St. John
the Baptist. The Catholic calendar placed the feast of John the
Baptist on June 24, six months before Christmas. June 24 is the
175th day of the year.
Each Puerto Rican town
celebrates fiestas patronales, which are Patron Saint Festivals,
and many towns have additional festivals, which honor cultural
icons like Bomba y plena, danza, salsa, hamacas and popular crops
such as plantains and coffee. This country puts a premium on
celebration. Since St. John the Baptist is the patron saint of the
Island and the namesake of the capital city (San Juan), his day is
widely celebrated by big parties on the beaches.

The Philadelphia Chapter of NCOBRA
will host the
2012 conference of the National Coalition of
Blacks for Reparations in America (NCOBRA).
June 22-24,
2012
Church of the Advocate
1801 Paul Washington Ave. (W.
Diamond St.)
Philadelphia, PA
Why reparations?
There are
those who ask "Why Reparations? Slavery ended in 1865?"
After the passage of the 13Th and 14Th amendments, laws were
passed to re-enslave people of African descent through Jim Crow
laws. The New Jim Crow is a result of the low-intensity war
against the Black community under the guise of a "War on
Drugs," in addition to ongoing discrimination, and an
extension of the slavery experience for Black people.
What can
we do: We can begin to work together to define the strategy, plan
the approach and implement the solution. One way to do this is to
come to Philadelphia in June for the 2012 NCOBRA Conference. Other
ways include joining with other groups working on the reparations
issue. Organizations from the Nation of Islam to the NAACP have
endorsed reparations. Now let's do more than talk the talk, let's
walk the walk. We must decide what must be done to reclaim,
reconstruct and restore our people to their former greatness. See
you in Philadelphia. Share with your friends!

The Parada San Juan Bautista (Saint John the Baptist Parade) has become a long lasting tradition in the City of Camden with its inception in 1957. Its goal is to unite the community to celebrate the richness of the Puerto Rican culture with all ethnic backgrounds. It is considered the largest summer event in the region with over 30, 000 attendees. The parade is a well-known, family-oriented, cultural and educational event, which takes place on the last Sunday in the month of June. It displays a mosaic of the very best of the Latin rhythms and dances from around the region, marching bands, decorated floats, exhibits as well as the flavors and aromas of ethnic cuisine. This year DJ Redz will be performing at the parade on our Queen's float.
