WHERE’S OSAMA?

We seem to have run out of new war themes and are beginning to experience war ‘reruns’. As the u.s. president termed it early in this present campaign, the new crusade has begun. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the first crusades, the Europeans decided that the world could not survive without their particular brand of religion. I say brand because that is exactly what it is, diluted, bleached marketed and packaged to appeal to a clientele that is too busy or too lazy to search for truth themselves. So, christianity was invented to lend credibility to, and aid the european world domination effort.

There is no longer the red menace, or the yellow plague, Stalin, Lenin and Hitler are gone, what to do, what to do…?

If you understand how con artists work, you will be able to see what this and other capitalist governments around the world do to keep you stupid. Magicians call it distraction, what it is, is, they get you to focus your attention on something that seems important, while they complete the trick out of your vision.

For instance, history will tell you that during WWII, russia was one of the allied nations; they had been invaded by the dreaded Hitler also. Please note that as long as Hitler was killing dark people, and people that did not contribute to the christian corporation, the u.s. had no interest in involving itself in the conflict, even though mother england was being devastated.

But, my point is, russia was an ally, but once the war ended, and the economy changed, something had to be done with the poor people, and the returning battle wizened troops. Poor and black people had seen what could happen when you decided you would no longer submit to a government that did not represent you, witnessed first-hand in france by black troops.

Enter the Red Menace, and the “Iron Curtin” countries. The russians were coming any day. They traumatized poor school children by making them practice hiding under their desks, as though that would protect them from an atomic bomb. They gave birth to a trillion dollar industry… fallout shelters. I still remember how to build one! If nuclear waste has a half-life of a couple of hundred years, what good was a fallout shelter?

Now, all the time the general population was watching the skies, and they WERE watching the skies, for russian bombers, the government was being transformed into giant good ole boy corporation. And part of that corporation included russia and the new germany. If I’m making this up, then why are both russia and germany in post WWII debt to the U.S.?

Why, when the russian people were starving, did the U.S. provide sustenance to the country? Now russia is host to a slew of ‘fortune 500” businesses. Mclenin burger anyone?

As g.w. stands in front of door #2, screaming loudly about weapons of mass destruction, drowning out the shouts of developers about fuel efficient, and alternative fuel vehicles, machinery and environmental equipment, while pointing to the still suspicious monthly Bin Laden videos, and all the time hiding behind his back the rights to the afghan pipeline, and the agreement with the new Iraqi government for access to the second largest crude oil deposits on the planet.

The new crusade. Once he was informed of the poor choice of words, g.w. was quick to point out that the u.s. was only after ‘bad’ Muslims. Of course the Saudi’s, as illuminated in the documentary “Fahrenheit 9-1-1” were not complisant. Even the Bin Laden family was excused and extended the courtesy of being allowed to fly out of the country following the 911 catastrophe.

The russians are capitalists, the Japanese are capitalists, the germans are capitalists, the Chinese are capitalists, who to fight… who to fight?

Ahhh… Osama old friend please be my guest at the Crawford ranch, I have a proposal to make… what do you know about the cold war?

Is it merely coincidence that Bin Laden keeps making videos with the Khrushchev theme, and no one can seem to find him?

Don Ringgold's Health Wealth(sm): The Genesis Project
Drinking distilled water, spring or filtered water is the proper way to start the day or break the fast from the previous day (“breakfast”). Drinking, ideally water only. Sometimes, apple cider vinegar (read label) and honey in a glass of water can be beneficial. In the booklet “The Master Cleanser” by Stanley Burroughs, it is recommended to take half a lemon, one or two tablespoons of grade b maple syrup or black strap molasses (especially for diabetics) with a pinch of cayenne pepper in a ten ounce glass of water. Herbal tea, serves the body best approximately 10 to 20 minutes before or after eating. Too much water, while eating, will dilute the power of the food during digestion and assimilation. However, some people put a tablespoonful of apple cider vinegar, only, in an eight-ounce glass of water during a meal, which makes for a sufficient compromise.  Eating fresh fruits, whole grains, yogurt, unsulphured dried fruits and vegetables all
 with no additives or pesticides, will help to maintain a clean colon. Fruits should be eaten first. They lay a good foundation .Be careful not to eat fruits and vegetables at the same time; they have different messages for the blood. Keep fruit consumption at least ten to twenty minutes apart from vegetable eating. For digestion and assimilation purposes, it is best to eat ripe fruits. The fruit sugar gives power. Sweet fruits work best in combination with other sweet fruits. Citrus fruits are best eaten alone. Fruit juices are highly recommended. Raw vegetables work best to sweep the colon clean. Salads are first at a meal for that reason. Red leaf lettuce is a good lettuce. Steaming vegetables bring out the sugars needed for power in the system. Brown rice boiled to tenderness is a wholesome way to eat rice. For instance, a half cup of rice to a cup of water. Place rice in a bowl of water over night to release mucus-producing factors. Baking potatoes
 and consuming the potatoes’ skin is productive. Steaming corn in the husks and eating the bright and lively part of the corn silk is protective. Broccoli is a very powerful veggie. If steaming is not possible, then boiling with a minimal amount of water is advisable. When the vegetables are bright they are ready for consumption. Fresh, frozen, then canned is the order of acceptance when there has to be a choice for fruits and vegetables. Fresh is always most preferable.

GREEN PIECE

In the rush to find fossil fuel's replacement as the next cheap and plentiful energy source for powering the human machine, wind gets a lot of attention. After all, it's certainly in no small supply (except when you need to get that kite airborne), and the idea of continuous, zero-pollution energy is too enticing to ignore. Oh, and there's the fact that mankind burns through about 400 quadrillion British Thermal Units (BTUs) annually, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. Four hundred quadrillion doesn't even sound like a real number, but consider that a single BTU is about as much energy generated by a lit match and that may help put it into perspective [source: McLamb].

It's not like wind hasn't been earning its keep. For centuries, we've used it to mill grains, power ships and even to generate electricity, starting in the 1930s. But as energy demand climbs, so have efforts to turn wind into a viable option for producing electricity on a large scale. Wind turbines in particular are what people think of when discussing wind power. These turbines can measure more than 400 feet (122 meters) tall and weigh in at close to 400 tons. Interest in wind has been outpacing other renewable methods for new electrical power generation for a few years, increasing more than 31 percent between 2008 and 2009 alone [source: U.S. Energy Information Association]. Besides its enormous promise, there are a couple of factors that have contributed to these gains. First, in 2009, wind generators were eligible for government incentives in the United States, encouraging developers to take the plunge. Secondly, Title IX of the 2008 Farm Bill made it easier and more attractive for farmers and ranchers to undertake wind projects.

Less than 2 percent doesn't sound like much, but when you consider the rate at which it's gaining popularity, wind has the inside track to becoming a much more viable alternative for large-scale energy production.

United Way seeks applicants for Philly Roots Fellowship

   United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey has released an application to select 15 individuals to participate in the Philly Roots Fellowship.
   The Philly Roots Initiative was developed by United Way and its partners in an attempt to systemically, yet creatively, ensure that young African American men graduate from high school and are college and career ready. The program equips formal and informal adult mentors with the tools they need to assist young men in achieving these goals.
   Eligible applicants include:
   * Individuals (coaches, community members, leaders of groups or small grassroots organizations) that have worked with the same group of at least five young black men in grades 6-12, for at least one year
   * Individuals who can commit to making a strong contribution to this emerging community of practice, and who will make a serious effort to increase the capacity and impact of their mentoring work and the broader Philadelphia community
   * Individuals who have been and will continue to do the work they’ve been doing regardless of whether there is funding or not, or whether they are being compensated to do it, and regardless of where they are employed. Individuals need not be employed or affiliated with a 501(c)(3) organization to apply.
   Preference will be given to those applicants who can demonstrate that they are serving young black men in grades 6-12 at risk of dropping out of school, who attend schools on United Way’s Targeted Schools List.

Minority Students

Nationwide (BlackNews.com) -- In recognition of Black History Month,

Nationwide Insurance is encouraging consumers to get on line to share, build and capture important family history in celebration of the rich heritage and legacy of the African American family. In addition, consumers can visit Pandora.com to build a personalized music library and support the

United Negro College Fund (UNCF).

Every year, the Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program selects 1,000

talented minority students to receive a good-through-graduation scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice. The program provides scholars with personal and professional development through our leadership programs along with academic support throughout their college career.

Administered by the United Negro College Fund, the program was initially funded by a $1 billion grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Since 1999, it has funded the education of more than 16,000 students, awarding them more than $614 million dollars to pay for tuition, fees, books and housing.

The program aims to reduce financial barriers for African American,

American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American and Hispanic American students with high academic and leadership promise who have significant financial need; increase the representation of these target groups in the disciplines of computer science, education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health and the sciences, where these groups are severely underrepresented; develop a diversified cadre of future leaders for America by facilitating successful completion of bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees; and provide seamless support from undergraduate through doctoral programs, for students selected as Gates Millennium Scholars entering target disciplines

Great Work Deserves Recognition!

Each year the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia presents the Preservation Achievement Awards to a select group of individuals, organizations, businesses and projects from throughout the region that exemplifyoutstanding achievement in the field of historic preservation.

The awards honor projects involving the preservation or protection of historic resources including the restoration, rehabilitation or adaptive reuse of historic properties; sympathetic new construction or additions to historic properties; or education, documentation and advocacy work on behalf of historic preservation.

If you have been directly involved in a preservation project or are aware of an outstanding effort that deserves attention, please let us know by submitting a nomination.

Family Survival Inc. is a 501(c)3 organization provides cultural, educational, spiritual and economic tools needed to create a positive and lasting legacy within the African American community. 

Family Survival Inc., a 501(c)3 organization, was founded by Brothers Rashie Abdul Samad and Rashie Abdur Rahim after realizing that the key to reclaiming the African American community lies in re-establishing connection with Africa, it's art, history, culture, economy and people.  The program started with exposing young people to the culture of African music and art, as well as learning the basics of business.  While the founding principles remain intact, the program has expanded by partnering with other community organizations and businesses in the spirit of umoja (unity) to ensure our collective Family Survival. On Saturday, January 19th, the Malcolm X Commemoration Committee will host its 17th annual dinner tribute to our political prisoners and their families!
          This highly anticipated and moving event will take place at the Martin Luther King Jr. Labor Center, 1199 Union Headquarters, 310 West 43rd Street, (near 8th Avenue), in Manhattan.
          The event will be from 3-7pm with dinner served promptly at 4pm. Donations for this now time-honored event are $40 in advance and $45 at the door. Proceeds from this gathering go to the commissary of the political prisoners who are represented at the dinner by their families.
          The theme for this year’s dinner is “Transforming Solidarity: Working Together To End Political Imprisonment and Mass Incarceration.”
          “We chose this theme because it’s time to critically look at what we’re doing and how we’re doing it,” Dequi Kioni-Sadiki, co-chair of the Committee and co-chair of WBAI’s ‘Where We Live.’
          “At some point it becomes important to recognize that it is not enough to say ‘I am doing something’; At some point, we have to figure out just what must be done to get results,” she finished emphatically.
          Special guests presenters for this year are Johanna Fernandez, producer of the critically acclaimed film ‘Justice On Trial,’ about Mumia Abu-Jamal, Malik Rhasaan of Occupy The ‘Hood and people’s hip hop artist Jasiri X!
          This year’s dinner comes on the heels of Mumia Abu-Jamal’s death sentence being tossed and on the heels of political prisoners like Jalil Muntaqim being denied parole again. Muntaqim has been in prison since 1973.
          The Malcolm X Commemoration Committee was launched in 1993 with former political prisoner Herman Ferguson serving as chairman. Ferguson, now 91, was also a founding member of the Organization of AfroAmerican Unity with Malcolm X and was with him up until that fateful day February 21, 1965, when Malcolm was tragically assassinated.
          In addition to combating misinformation surrounding the legacy of Malcolm X and multiplying the presence of the community for the very moving annual pilgrimage to Malcolm’s gravesite on his birthday, the Committee also initiated this dinner 17 years ago to bring the community together to build greater support for Black and New Afrikan political prisoners and to instill greater appreciation for their humanity and for what their families have to endure in the face of their wrongful incarceration.
          The Malcolm X Commemoration Committee has always said that Black and New Afrikan political prisoners, who were young men who were directly inspired by Malcolm to join the Black Liberation Movement, make up “the hidden legacy” of Malcolm X. Many were viciously targeted by the government’s COINTELPRO operations of the late 60s early 70s. Those operations assassinated activists, framed activists, fostered violence between activists and the police and even fostered violence between activists themselves. To this date, there are dozens of political prisoners and prisoners of war who are still in prison from frameups dating back to the 60s in most cases!
