An Afternoon with Gil Noble

The Friends of East Orange Public Library, in partnership with the Library, began the fall program series "@ Your Library" with "An Afternoon Dialogue with Mr. Gil Noble", award winning producer, journalist and host of WABC-TV's weekly public affairs series LIKE IT IS on Sat., Sept. 25, 2004 at the Main branch.

Known for his thorough research, investigation, and serious discussion, Mr. Noble's consistently high quality programming conveys the African-American perspective on current and past events/issues. This was Gil Noble's second appearance at the Library and he shared his knowledge and experience out of deep concern and personal commitment to the struggle of African-American empowerment. Mr. Noble has received numerous community and industry awards including seven "Emmys" and a Lifetime Achievement Award. He has interviewed distinguished politicians, entertainers, heads of state and sports figures from Muhammad Ali and Wynton Marsalis to President Julius Nyerere of Tanzania.

The Friends of East Orange Public Library welcomed the public to come, listen, and share in the dialogue that followed Mr. Noble's thought provoking presentation. These critical times need a collective force to effect change.

East Orange Public Library, the community's center of culture, discovery, and lifelong learning makes a real difference in people's lives. These programs are free to the public.
