Concerned individuals and organizations in the City of Newark and neighboring municipalities contine an ongoing campaign to stop the plague of senseless violence that has snuffed out hundreds of lives in recent years.
On
October 16th 2004 there was a Weeping Cherry Tree planted in Jesse Allen Park in the Central ward of Newark.
The tree was a way to show the many family members who have lost a loved one to Guns and Violence that their were people,
groups, and organizations who cares.
The ceremony was one of healing and coming together, and the majority of the crowd have all experience the same tragedy. The
vision was that of the Enough Is Enough Coalition President Minister Ellis, and the Organization support group (POMY) Parents
of Murdered Youth.
The tree is no longer planted in the park, I went by to check on it and it was missing
I don't know what happen to it, but I do know that it was in the park three weeks ago when I saw it during a rally and prayer
vigil that was being held for Tyiasha Mickens across the street from Jessie Allen Park.
If anyone can assist us with a donation of another Weeping Cherry tree, we can plant another Memorial Tree for the family
members, location (TBA) please contact (973) 704-9125 or visit our web site www.enoughisenoughcoalition.com & email us. (see site)
The tree means so much to so many, not only in the City of Newark but the Tri Cities and the State of New Jersey
